Davis Shores
The Davis Shores community, which is just across the Bridge of Lions on Anastasia Island, was the dream of D.P. Davis in the early 1920's. Davis had previously developed the Buena Vista section of Miami, Florida and Davis Islands in Tampa, Florida. Davis Shores was to include a yacht club, exclusive homes on Venetian styled canals, a large hotel and casino, and a golf course. The dream never came to fruition, as plans were halted after the Florida land bust in the mid 1920's.
Today a few of the original homes from the 1920's remain, but a large number of the properties are the modest homes built after World War II, as well as newly constructed waterfront estate homes, some with views across the inlet to the ocean.
